Top Rank Promotions has just announced on its Facebook page that Manny Pacquiao will fight top welterweight Joshua Clottey on March 13. The announcement comes in the aftermath of the collapse of the mediation efforts by former Judge Daniel Weinstein to achieve an agreement between the camps of Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr for a […]
WASHINGTON – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson today announced the agency would reconsider the 2008 national smog standards to ensure they are scientifically sound and protective of human health. Smog, which is also known as ground level ozone, has been linked to asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
There’s a strange report circulating that cell phone radiation has been proved to reverse Alzheimers in mice. The Florida Alzheimers’ Disease Research Center conducted tests on 96 mice and is reporting that the results indicate the electromagnetic field generated by cell phones seems to have actually caused a reversal in the growth of Alzheimer’s type […]
How much doping can someone, anyone, do in a 24 day window during which he is subject to random urine tests throughout.
When I first heard about the Sea Shepherd tri-maran Andy Gil getting split in half, I wondered who rammed whom. There are various videos floating around the internet. This one, I think, is pretty conclusive.
Avatar continued its rampage through the box office with a Tuesday gross of $7,327,233, off 9.5% from Monday — a day when quite a few schools were still not in session. This means Avatar has reached a domestic gross of $367,536,685. In the “same number of days in release comparison” to Titanic, Avatar picked […]

BEIJING — Science-fiction blockbuster “Avatar” grossed more than 33 million yuan (4.8 million dollars) on its opening day in China this week, setting a new record, state media reported Wednesday.
James Cameron’s ground-breaking 3-D epic surpassed Zhang Yimou’s “A Simple Noodle Story”, a remake of the Coen brothers’ “Blood Simple”, which earned 21 […]
The figures are out for yesterday, Monday, January 4 and Avatar has beaten expectations again with BOG of $8.1M. As I pointed out in my post yesterday, if Avatar had suffered the same Sunday/Monday percentage drop that Titanic did on it’s Monday after New Years (Titanic went from $8m on Sunday to $3m on Monday, […]
Box Office Mojo is reporting the weekend actuals. Brandon Gray reports: “‘Avatar’ beat its estimates again, coming in at $68.5 million domestically and $136.3 million internationally for the weekend. On the other hand, ‘Sherlock Holmes,’ ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ and others were significantly overestimated…”
Here’s the chart of Avatar’s actuals compared to Titanic’s actuals — […]
Today is a crucial day for Avatar box office watchers. The holidays are over and the reality of a ‘regular’ Monday at the box office is about to set in. How “regular” will it be?
Well, first some perspective.
On the first Monday after the New Years Weekend, Titanic dropped 66% from $8M on Sunday, […]
Good news for fight fans who’ve been on a rollercoaster ride all through the holidays as the on-again, off-again Manny Pacquiao–Floyd Mayweather superfight went from a done deal to no deal to a lawsuit and now, finally, mediation with the same Santa Monica based mediator who unsnarled the previous problems between Top Rank […]
On December 31st our household increased by 1 when daughter Pilar joined us. Her arrival necessitating moving to a new apartment in our complex with three bedrooms. An unexpected dividend of the move was that the new apartment has a very large patio/balcony area. The outdoo area is almost as large as the apartment itself […]
I’m not big on petition signing but this is one that merits all of our attention.
We all know about the well publicized Taiji Dolphin Slaughter. Less well known but equally repellent is the annual slaughter of Calderon Dolphins (also known as Pilot Whales), carried out as a bizarre coming of age ritual in Denmark’s […]
Last night our family began gathering, as we do every year, at the home of my 83 year old mom in Niceville, Florida. My four kids have arrived — Patrick and Michelle from California, Pilar from Texas, and Kaitlyn from Florida. My wife and best friend Rena is here; my sister Valerie; my cousin Curt […]
Dear Tiger Woods,
A few days before you announced that you were taking a break from competitive golf ‘indefinitely’ to focus on being a better husband, father, and person, I was already on board with this idea and writing and talking about it to those who care to listen to me. I thought that yes […]
I passed this along in an email blast to all of our investors, but am mentioning it here as well. I’m working on a yearend report that will go out before Christmas that will include an update on exactly where we are in terms of completing the film; where we are with our foreign pre-sales; […]
Like most everyone in America, I’ve spent a good bit of the holiday weekend watching the Tiger Woods trainwreck unfold in slow motion in front of the world. I was watching the Auburn-Alabama game while surfing online when I first saw tweets about it. Oddly, I have frequently worried about Tiger’s safety — not fearful […]
A couple of weeks ago I posted “Great News From Taiji” from Ric O’Barry at my other blogsite — dolphinbuzz.wordpress.com–but neglected to post it here. It’s worth a read — Ric O’Barry is the now world famous dolphin trainer turned dolphin activist who is at the center of The Cove — the […]
But Taiji can change this image of shame, if they want to. I will be telling them that the town of Nantucket used to be the capitol of the whale killing industry in the US. Now, it uses its history of whaling combined with whale-watching to market tourism very successfully. Whales and dolphins are worth more alive than dead. Taiji can do this, too. But the killing has to stop.

When I was a young man I carried my pack
And I lived the free life of a rover
From the Murrays green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my Matilda all over
Then in nineteen fifteen my country said Son
It’s time to stop rambling […]

Well, I’m running down the road
tryin’ to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she’s a friend of mine
Take It easy, take it easy
Don’t […]
I’m sittin’ in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound

Here is a written version of a recent briefing on WeEarth we provided to some visiting investors. It covers the history of the project, it’s current status, and plans going forward.
Initial Planning: Oct 2007 thru Jan 2008
This was the initial phase where we knew we wanted to establish an environmentally themed web […]
Welcome to my site. It’s a bit of a mishmash — part blogsite, part journal, part repository for memoires type recollections in anticipation of doing something more formal along those lines at some point in the future. If I’m prolific enough it may make sense to break this down into separate sites in order to […]

One event in my life I’ll never forget is when, while living in the Philippines in 1994, I got hold of the July 24, 1994 edition of Time Magazine. Here’s the cover:
I still remember how, for me at least, the internet at that point was something I only […]
The three days since I got back from the Bahamas have gone by in a blur, and I apologize for not blogging on Wednesday and Thursday. I’ve just been going nonstop from 5:30 AM each day……but it’s Friday now and one thing I will try to really always do is put out a Friday end-of-week […]

We spent the morning at UNEXSO, re-familiarizing ourselves with the surroundings and planning out which of the areas we will be wanting to use. It was great to be back with our dolphin friends — all are doing well and the two “babies” — Bryland and Salvatore — have grown up […]

A long and very productive day yesterday — and now a huge one looming today so I’ll have to jam through this pretty quickly.
LOCATIONS
We spent three hours at UNEXSO and were able to nail down a number of location issues. A major one concerns the need this time […]
It’s another Friday already — sometimes it’s very hard to believe that another week has gone flashing by. It’s frightening how fast it goes — particularly when you’re trying to get projects like WeEarth.com and Way of the Dolphin up on their feet. Here’s the update as of Friday morning, 7 March.
