Thanks to Abby Sellers, My Life Has Taken a Turn for the Better — Very Very Much Better, in Fact

It’s been a minute since I posted here on MichaelDSellers.com — in fact my last post was April 20, 2019 — three and a half years ago. There’s a reason I went silent. Anyone’s life can change in an instant. Mine changed for the worse in an instant in March 2019, and then it was hell for awhile, then got really seriously bad on early 2021 — only to suddenly do a 180 degree flip in 2021. The reason — well, you see them in the picture above: Abby Sellers and Arshavin Sellers. They came into my life suddenly in mid 2021. They are my family now. How all this happened will be the subject of some other posts. For now, I just want to introduce them to you.

Abby Sellers and Arshavin Sellers

First let’s talk about Abby Sellers. Here’s how she described herself when I first met her in 2021: “I’m an aspiring writer currently workng as a fashion model.” (I would learn these are understatements.) She went on to say she was the mom of an amazing 11 years old boy; and was from Nairobi, Kenya. There is a LOT more I can tell you about her now in late 2022–but the most important thing that I can say about her is that this amazing woman loves me, and is my wife. I’ll leave it at that for the moment– future posts will tell you more, lots more, about her.

Now, about Arshavin Sellers. He’s twelve. He’s my chess nemesis who I used to be able to beat easily but who now has gained the upper hand and makes me work very hard to get an occasional win. He’s my cooking buddy who likes to cook as much as I do and is very creative when he gets around food. He claims to have a 300 IQ which I think is slightly exaggerated, but only slightly. Smart kid? Oh yes. He is also the extraordinarily well behaved son of an African mom — and anyone who is actually from Africa knows exactly what I mean by “African mom.” You don’t mess with them–they know how to keep you in line.

I love these two people with all my heart, and I’m going to write about them here, starting with this post but there will be more. There is a compelling story to tell about how Abby and I met; about our cultural journey as we’ve become a couple and a family, and about our dreams and aspirations for the future.

But I’ll save that for future posts.
