The Rumor of a Mass Prison Escape is Inaccurate
Eastern Samar jail prisoners DID NOT attempt any escape despite the typhoon damaging prison facilities. They are still in Jail and are not a factor in the security issues that have cropped up.
Getting Cash to Eastern Samar is Virtually Impossible
As of Nov 11 no Western Union on the Island of Samar was online and it was impossible to use WU to get money in. Also, there is the following update from Lito Merro Cept via Lawaan.com
Update: Para sa mga mgpapadala ng pera para sa mga kaanak sa Lawaan, ipadala nyo CASH from Manila or somewhere..Naka offline na ang mga ATM sa Calbayog and probably all other places in Samar. Palawan Express and the like are also offline or else mahirap na kumuha, sa haba ng pila (as of today), even Smart Padala..baka nauubusan na rin ng cash pambigay.
Update: IMPORTANT – Nov. 13, 2013
Sto. Nino, Quinapondan Sea Port is operational. This facility can accommodate large vessels. Please share so that supplies may reach.
