Emergency Micro-aide Relief Project For Guinob-an, Eastern Samar can be a template for other towns
For those who may have missed it, my wife Lorena Llevado Sellers is from Guinoban in the municipality of Lawaan, Eastern Samar. Her town was devastated, like all the other coastal towns of Eastern Samar and much of the Visayas. She has managed to get a shipment of rice and medicine through to her family and now she is launching a project to provide 100 fifty KG sacks of rice to Guinob-an with the first shipment of 25 sacks leaving in the next 48 hours.
Now … clearly she, and thus I, want this to succeed for the benefit of her town, but what we’re really hoping will happen is that others will see how easy it is to organize a project like this and help your own home town. My son Patrick is helping her and is creating a toolkit with step-by-step instructions — so if it works, it can work for other forgotten towns.

And here are the first photos we’ve seen of Guinob-an. This was a sparklingly beautiful little seaside town. There are hundreds and hundreds like this now in the Philippines. It still really hurts, and brings the reality home, when you see your own town like this.
