8PM PST: Avatar has just won Best Picture and Best Director at the Golden Globes. In accepting, Cameron acknowledge the “great, creative, amazing people” in the room — then said “I think this is the best job in the world. We all have the best job in the world. We make entertainment for the global audience, and that’s what the Golden Globes mean. Avatar I guess asks us to see that everything is connected — all human beings to each other, and us to the earth. If you have to to another made up planet to appreciate the world we have right here, that’s the wonder of cinema, that’s the magic.”
